Essential Oil Bali: Check Out All the Different Uses!
Aren’t you curious about all the buzz around essential oils?
Then you’ll want to keep reading!
Natural Skin Care
Essential oils are one of our favorite components to include in your natural skincare routine! They have so many benefits for the skin.
In our previous article, Natural Skin Care Defined, we talk about great lengths about what natural skincare is, what the benefits are and why you should consider making the switch today!
Natural skin care means using products made from raw, unprocessed ingredients found in nature. As we’ll go into further detail below, essential oils are a great way to easily incorporate these natural ingredients into your skincare routine.
The main reason you might want to consider switching to a natural skin care routine is because the skin absorbs the things that we put on it. This can be good or bad, depending on what you end up putting on it. Many natural skin care ingredients contain vitamins and other components that have a variety of benefits for your skin and your body. Meanwhile, many commercial cosmetics and beauty products are made from synthetic compounds. Some of these synthetic compounds can actually end up clogging the pores.
This can be bad news because your skin, which is your body’s largest organ, is a vital part of your body’s detoxification system. Your skin is able to rid your body of toxins and chemicals through sweat, which comes through the pores. The problem with chemical-based cosmetics products is that not only is your skin absorbing some of these chemicals, but it is also becoming more difficult for it to remove them from the body in the process.
So that’s why we always advocate for a natural skin care routine here at Utama Spice. Like we always say, “If you wouldn’t cook with it, you shouldn’t put it on your body.”
Other reasons to consider using natural skin care solutions is because it’s better for the environment and can be better for your wallet too!
While it depends on the particular company, many natural skin care products, like essential oils, are grown, harvested and made in sustainable ways. Because the ingredients are made from raw, unprocessed things found in nature, the byproduct from making many natural skin care ingredients and products, like essential oils, is all natural and safe. Meanwhile, many commercial cosmetics and beauty products are mass-produced and the process can release the chemical byproduct into the air or water, harming plant and sea life, as well as the surrounding ecosystem.
But don’t worry, natural skin care products are a proven, effective alternative, and they can be quite affordable too! As you’ll see in this article, many skin care ingredients have a bunch of different benefits and uses. For instance, Lavender Essential Oil is great for the hair, scalp and skin! It can also help you fall asleep and even treat bug bites. So once you start to learn some of the different ways you can use essential oils and different natural ingredients, you’ll see that they can become quite handy around the house.
Essential Oils
Every essential oil has different potential benefits for your home, health, skin, scalp or hair. So while this leads to an extremely wide range of benefits you can get from essential oils, this also means that there might not be a one-size-fits all essential oil that will do everything. But with the right collection of a few essential oils, you’ll be able to tackle almost any problem, condition or issue!
The reason essential oils are all so different and have different effects and benefits is because each one has its own unique chemical composition. Essential oils are made from plants, seeds, fruits, trees, vegetables, roots; all things found in nature. Each essential oil is made from just one of these natural, unprocessed ingredients. The natural ingredients that are made into essential oils all have their own different medicinal and therapeutic properties. These properties are thanks to various minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, fatty acids and more that all combine to provide a whole bunch of benefits.

Using Essential Oils on the Hair & Skin
As we mentioned in our article about Essential Oils for Skin Care, when it comes to essential oils for skin use, it is important to spend a little time studying the essential oils you’re using. Many essential oils are gentle and good for application to the hair, face, skin, scalp and lips, while other essential oils might be less gentle. Some of these less gentle essential oils can still have some great benefits for the skin, so if you’d like to use one, all you have to do is dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil.
We go into greater detail about carrier oils in our post about Natural Skin Care At Home, but carrier oils are perfect for mixing essential oils with before using on the skin. As we wrote in our previous post, Natural Skin Care At Home, some of our favorite carrier oils to mix with essential oils are Argan Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil and Tamanu Oil. We also love Jojoba Oil for use on the skin and will be discussing it more in our next article, Jojoba Oil: Bali Beauty Benefits.
Carrier oils are great to use even with the gentler essential oils because they all have their own wealth of benefits and uses for the skin. For example, Argan Oil has plenty of uses for the skin just on its own. From our previous article Argan Oil for Skin, here’s our 10 favorite reasons and ways to use argan oil for your skin.
Top 10 Best Argan Oil Benefits for Your Face & Skin

And that’s just what you’re mixing the essential oil with! Each essential oil that’s recommended for use on the skin can have a similar last of benefits, uses and conditions it treats.
Many of the best essential oils for skin have antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make them very healthy for the skin and the body. These types of properties can help with everything from wrinkles and sun damage to moisturizing and provide hydration. Certain oils like argan oil, can help to balance the hydrolipidic film of your skin, restoring the correct balance of oil to skin that was either too dry or too oily. Because argan oil is also non comedogenic, this can make it amazing for treating acne.
Don’t worry, in this article we’ll also give you our Top 10 Essential Oils to Use on Your Skin so you can get your collection started today. We already mentioned our 5 favorite carrier oils, so next, let’s talk more about the benefits you can expect from essential oils for your skin.
Lavender Essential Oil for the Skin
Lavender Essential Oil is one of our favorite essential oils to use on the skin. It contains antioxidants that fight free radicals, antiseptic properties that fight off bacteria and microbes, antifungal properties that fight off any fungal infections, and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce swelling.
Lavender essential oil also contains several vitamins that have amazing benefits for the skin. According to Maple Holistic, “Lavender oil is high in antioxidants and vitamins A and E. Vitamin A, also known as retinol, prevents signs of aging by protecting skin from damaging free-radicals. It also helps with cell regeneration, resulting in baby-soft skin over time. Another vitamin which helps prevent sun damage is vitamin E, also found within lavender essential oil. Furthermore, vitamin E serves as a skin emollient, which means that it keeps the skin hydrated and moisturized in a natural way. It calms itchy skin and functions as a natural anti-inflammatory to help reduce redness, swelling, and dryness of the skin.”
So you can see why lavender essential oil is one of our favorite essential oils for the skin!
