How to Wash Your Hair Less

Many of us wash our hair daily, while others only wash their hair twice a week. Which is the right way to go? When you wash your hair every day, you are stripping the hair of its natural oils. The more often you wash your hair, the more oils you are washing away. This can make your body produce even more oil to compensate for what it is losing.

The amount of oil you produce depends a lot on your body and hair type. While some people can wash their hair only twice a week, others may find that to be impossible. However, you should still find a way to wash your hair less, and we are here today to help you do just that.

Switch Shampoos

The first step is to switch from your regular shampoo to a castile soap. This can be a switch you do at one time, or it can be more gradual. You should do this for about two to three weeks so that your hair can get used to the new soap. You should also be cutting down on the number of washes you do as well during this time.

Taper Washes

You can start off by dropping at least one hair wash per week. Once you taper down, you can start washing your hair every other day and then try to drop another day or two as your body gets used to it.

Break-in Period

As you switch from your regular shampoo to castile soap or something more natural and start to cut down on your hair washes, you will find that your hair will go through a break-in period. This is simply your body trying to adjust to your new routine. You may find that your hair is much greasier during this time, but this will go away as your scalp gets used to the new routine.

To help get through those greasy hair days, you can always wear your hair up or use a dry shampoo. If you need to increase your washings until you find the frequency that works best for your hair and body, then that is what you have to do.

Again, the process is going to be different for everyone because everyone will react in a different way. You just have to keep trying and experimenting until you find what works best for your hair.

Meta: Washing our hair every day actually strips it of its natural oils. For this reason, it is important to find a way to wash your hairless.
